Integration of young people with fewer opportunities in society and their political participation

The fact exists that young people with fewer opportunities are more often excluded in society. Is it due to a lack of integration, access to information, recognition of their “social, economical or geographical disadvantages”? If we think of a participatory society, where the youth is not only a receiver and consumer but also an active participant, creator and decision maker, there are still a lot of challenges that young people and especially young people with fewer opportunities that we need to resolve?

The working group Integration of young people with fewer opportunities in society and their political participation will face the participants with the following questions:
- What is participation and what are the necessary conditions for it?
- What are the challenges and obstacles for (political) participation, especially for young people with fewer opportunities , which exist for youth today?
- How can young people with fewer opportunities make their voice heard?
- How can youth in general be more aware of this excluded group of young people and advocate for them to facilitate and strengthen their active participation in their communities, in social and cultural activities, as well as political processes?
- Are social and cultural integration a basis or precondition for political participation?
